About Us

BCDI-Greater Houston is an affiliate of the National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI) which has been at the forefront of engaging leaders, policymakers, educators, professionals, and parents on critical and timely issues directly impacting Black and Brown children and families for over 50 years. BCDI-Greater Houston partners, collaborates, and networks with individuals and organizations to develop and deliver strengths-based, culturally relevant, evidence-based, and trauma-informed resources to support the unique strengths and needs of Black and Brown children. We focus on issues related to policies affecting Black and Brown children and youth, Early Childhood Education, Health and Wellness, Literacy, Family Engagement, Child Welfare, and the reduction of the preschool-to-prison pipeline through Education and Advocacy! We influence federal, state, and local policies to ensure equitable systems for Black and Brown children and families. Exciting work is happening! There are opportunities to join Committees and work with the Executive Board! The time is NOW!
